Clenbuterol HCl is a sympathomimetic amine and a selective β2-adrenergic receptor agonist. Though structurally similar to ephedrine and salbutamol, it is not approved for human use in some countries (like the US) but is used as a bronchodilator in others. It also gained notoriety in sports and bodybuilding for its fat-burning and anabolic-like effects.
It consists of a phenyl ring substituted with amino and dichloro groups, linked to an ethanol backbone with a tert-butylamino substituent, stabilized as a hydrochloride salt for improved solubility and bioavailability.
Mechanism of Action:
Stimulates β2-adrenergic receptors in smooth muscles.
Increases cyclic AMP (cAMP) via adenylate cyclase activation.
Leads to relaxation of bronchial muscles (bronchodilation).
Exhibits thermogenic properties by increasing metabolic activity and lipolysis.
Pharmacokinetics:
Oral bioavailability is high.
Long half-life (~36 hours), leading to sustained effects.
Metabolized hepatically and excreted renally.

Approved Uses (in some countries):
Treatment of asthma and COPD (as a bronchodilator).
Veterinary medicine for respiratory issues in horses.
Off-label / Unapproved Uses:
Used (illegally in sports) as a performance-enhancing drug due to fat-burning and mild anabolic effects.
Sometimes misused for rapid weight loss.
